HIGH SCHOOLS: Turnovers prove costly for Southeastern in football loss to Blue Hills

Two turnovers proved costly for the Southeastern Regional High football team in its 30-22 loss at Blue Hills on Friday night.

The Hawks fumbled on their first and last possessions of the game, but still got strong efforts from running back Demetrius Fontes-Semedo and quarterback Rich Alger.

Fontes-Semedo scored two touchdowns on a 20-yard reception from Alger and on a 30-yard rush on fourth down, finishing with 158 total yards on 16 carries.

?He ran tough,? said Southeastern coach Dan Tripp. ?If anyone questioned his leadership, he answered that tonight.?

Alger also found the end zone with a 6-yard rushing touchdown.

The Hawks had no answer for Vincent Burton, who rushed 50 times for 250 yards and scored four touchdowns.

?He was a man out there,? said Tripp. ?My kids played him the best they could, but they didn?t stop us either.?

La Salle Academy (R.I.) 41, Bridgewater-Raynham 24: Brandon Gallagher scored two touchdowns (13 and 18 yards) in the road loss for the Trojans (3-3). Ryan Martin returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown. Kevin Wadsworth converted a 25-yard field goal and kicked three extra points.

Rockland 21, Hull 7: Sophomore quarterback Joey Reardon threw for a touchdown, ran for another, converted a two-point conversion and intercepted a pass for the Bulldogs (2-4). Reardon scored on a 1-yard run and caught a 37-yard touchdown pass from Billy Brady. Kyle Lane also scored a touchdown on a 6-yard run.

FIELD HOCKEY

East Bridgewater 1, Mashpee 0: Sophia Cacciatore scored the Vikings? (6-5-1) only goal as Lindsey Wolfe got the shutout in net.

Plymouth South 8, Bridgewater-Raynham 2: Kara Hurley tallied three goals in the road win for the Panthers (7-7). Erin Donovan and Bethanne Keanne each notched two goals. Serena Colbert assisted on four of Plymouth South?s goals and scored one of her own.

Nicole Kemmit and Andrea Rota scored in the loss for the Trojans.

Oliver Ames 0, Foxboro 0: Cassie Gavin recorded her seventh shutout in net, making six saves for the Tigers (10-2-2). Alecia Alleyne, Molly Cunha, Olivia Meade, Kara Arnold, Katie Stallings and Katie Tighe played well for Oliver Ames.

Sharon 1, Stoughton 0: Black Knights goalkeeper Katie Cellucci stopped 14 shots and Megan Flaherty played a strong game at back.

Apponequet 4, Seekonk 0: Cara Storms put home two goals for the Lakers (13-0-1). Nicole Dion and Allie Noyes added a goal apiece.

BOYS SOCCER

East Bridgewater 9, Hull 0: For the second game in a row, Ethan Forrest notched three goals for the visiting Vikings (12-1). Alex Carey added two goals and Tyler Zentz scored one goal and had one assist.

Middleboro 3, West Bridgewater 2: The Sachems pulled the upset, getting their third win of the week. Brothers Mitch and Mike Thompson each scored on the road along with Kenny Schofield.

Reed Crowley and Kared Sharkey scored two goals for the Wildcats (9-3) in defeat.

Oliver Ames 3, Foxboro 0: David MacKinnon recorded his 10th shutout of the season for the Tigers (9-2-3) on the road. Chris Romero and Sam Pietro both scored their first varsity goals and Chris Goncalves notched his ninth goal of the season. David Stapleton had two assists and Gaston Centrengolo had an assist.

Silver Lake 5, Pembroke 0: John Coneeny scored twice for the Lakers (9-3-1) on the road. Brendan Nemes added in a goal and an assist.

Scituate 5, Whitman-Hanson 1: Jeff Govoni scored the Panthers? only goal, assisted by Alex Nicoletta.

Blue Hills 2, Sacred Heart 0: J.T. Freedman stopped 10 shots to earn the shutout for the Warriors (4-7-1) who got goals from Renadi Dersier and John Crowley. Kevin Ramsey led the Blue Hills' defense.

GIRLS SOCCER

East Bridgewater 5, Hull 0: The Vikings (9-1-2) received goals from Mack Kingman, Bridget Irving, Brittney Richardson, Megan Richardson and Rianna Fasanello at home.

West Bridgewater 4, Bridgewater-Raynham 1: Christine Schondek tallied twice and added an assist for the visiting Wildcats (7-2-2). Addie Climo and Skyler Roberts added a goal apiece while Alli Niccoli had an assist. Olivia Sarantopoulos and Julia Niccoli played solid defense.

Plymouth North 4, Nauset 2: The Blue Eagles (9-3-1) qualified for the tourney behind three goals from Madison Finlay. Claire O?Donnell added a goal of her own at home.

Sacred Heart 2, Blue Hills 1: The Lady Saints got goals from senior Erin Bracken and eighth-grader Bridget LeBlanc.

Randolph 1, Holbrook 0: Damara Amilcar scored the only goal for the Blue Devils (4-9-2). Kelsey Bamford assisted and freshman goalkeeper Carly Amos recorded her third shutout.

GOLF

King Phillip 155, Oliver Ames 159: The Tigers (8-5) were led by Nick Carter and James Shalhoup, who each shot 39 at Pine Oaks Golf Course in Easton.

VOLLEYBALL

Brockton 3, Cardinal Spellman 0: The Boxers (6-6) beezed past the Cardinals, winning, 25-13, 25-14, 25-11. Kataya Sykers and Joanna Joseph combined for eight kills. Jeamella Guilloteau had five aces and 12 service points. Marissa Spivey added 12 digs.

Stoughton 3, Sharon 0: The Black Knights (9-4) qualified for the tourney with the home win. Emma Zuk had 19 assists, 11 service points and eight digs. Kayla Motley had nine kills and five blocks. Jalen Joseph had 19 service points and five aces.

Bristol Aggie 3, South Shore Vocational 1: The Vikings (5-7) fell, 19-25, 15-15, 21-25, 26-24.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Dedham 18, Randolph 38: Williams finished fourth in 21:02 for the Blue Devils over the 5K course at home.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Dedham 16, Randolph 47: Stephanie Igaharosa was the Blue Devils? top runner in 25:49 for fifth place over the 5K course at home.
