NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) ? There are signs that the rule of law is strengthening in Kenya.
A tribunal investigating the conduct of the country's deputy chief justice said this week that she should be removed from the bench after threatening a security guard with a gun. Kenya's director of public prosecutions said that the justice, Nancy Baraza, could also face assault charges.
Rebecca Kerubo, a $6-a-day-security guard, filed a complaint against Baraza even though friends and family said it would go nowhere.
But legal experts in Kenya say that the passage of a new constitution in August 2010 has helped strengthen institutions so that the powerful are also held accountable.
