Transwestern, a national full service commercial real estate company, is seeking an experienced marketing / public relations professional to work in its Chicago, IL office. The primary focus of the Midwest Marketing / Public Relations Associate will be to support the Midwest Region in all marketing, advertising, public relations and event related functions. The Marketing / Public Relations Associate will be responsible for creating and continually developing advanced marketing presentations for proposals consistent with Transwestern standards in a cost effective and timely manner that result in an increased target market awareness of the Midwest team?s strengths and capabilities. It is also the responsibility of the Marketing / Public Relations Associate not only to exhibit legendary customer service when communicating with clients and vendors but also to focus on productivity and results.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work as a part of the Midwest and Chicago Marketing team to support all team members in administration of marketing related functions including but not limited to: design and development of marketing materials, electronic and direct mail marketing distribution, written proposals and RFP responses, and preparing documents for presentations.
  • Assist in developing annual media, marketing and communications strategy.
  • Handle and coordinate public relations, including dealing with the press and communicating with reporters with a goal of strategically furthering Transwestern?s exposure in the Midwest region.
  • Develop and draft press releases regarding regional announcements, such as new hires, major accomplishments and achievements, major deals and/or assignments.
  • Monitor competitors? marketing materials, incorporate changes when appropriate and maintain a library of best practices.
  • Maintain and update a library of biographies, case studies and relevant materials for use in proposals and presentation.
  • Assist with Midwest Region city websites and online marketing campaigns.
  • Assist in design and development of brochures, presentations, proposal templates, etc.
  • Review and edit materials and proposals for spelling, grammar and format.
  • Plan and implement external client events and internal employee events for the Region, including TrendLines and other major client events.
  • Work with hotels, restaurants, clubs and various venues, coordinating all necessary logistics, in order to ensure smooth activity and successful events.
  • Provide general administrative support to team members as necessary.
  • Prepare memoranda, proposals, charts, tables and other documents as necessary.

  • Bachelor?s degree, or equivalent experience, in marketing/communications related field
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in marketing
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience at a commercial real estate agency
  • A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in public relations
  • Strong knowledge of journalism or communication is preferred
  • Must have intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office suite (particularly Word, Power Point and Excel); Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Can conceptualize abstract concepts into written documents
  • Works well in a team environment and is extremely reliable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills ? effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to multi-task, adapt to rapidly changing priorities on a regular basis and a continually heavy workload
  • Strong attention to detail ? excellent proofreading and editing skills
  • Ability to maintain discretion regarding personnel and industry-related matters
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Must be a self-starter and can take initiative
