Seton fundraiser held at golf course

NORTH BEND, Ohio - Golfers know it's a big deal to get a hole in one. And on Monday, And on Monday, Some Seton High School supporters hoped for the chance to earn more than bragging rights at Aston Oaks Golf Club.

The school's athletic association hosted its fourth annual golf fundraiser.? This fundraising event was served with a twist; competitors needed a touch of fate and luck to win.?? Women and men were able to tee it up during the competitive, yet charitable cause.

Members of the community purchased a golf ball for $5 each with an assigned number. Firefighters climbed their work truck ladder and dropped 3,000 balls, from the sky, and all at once. The winner would have to make it on the hole, or come close to claim the grand prize.

"It's rare that one makes it in that close, but if they do it they get $1,000," said Seton Athletic Booster President Joe Moehring. The ball farthest away from the intended target also got a prize of $250.

Rain may have delayed the festivities for almost 20 minutes, but Mother Nature didn't deter the golfing enthusiasts.

"It's a great day to be here, great turnout, but it's a serious thing we're trying to do, trying to raise funds for student athletes on the field."

Moehring said proceeds from the fundraiser will help student athletes them with pay-to play fees.? This year, he said the organization raised more than $40,000.
